Dr. Payaam Tavakoli, DPM

Board Qualified in Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery

Dr. Payaam Tavakoli is a foot and ankle surgeon who is board qualified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS) in both Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle (RRA) Surgery.

Dr. Tavakoli works with each patient to develop an individualized treatment plan based on their condition, lifestyle, and goals. He emphasizes clear communication and considers nonsurgical options whenever appropriate while providing advanced surgical care when indicated.

Dr. Tavakoli earned his Bachelor of Science in Public Health Science from the University of Maryland, College Park. He then graduated with academic honors from Midwestern University's Arizona College of Podiatric Medicine, earning his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree.

Following medical school, Dr. Tavakoli completed a rigorous three-year podiatric medicine and surgery residency at Hunt Regional Medical Center in Texas. His training provided extensive clinical and operative experience in trauma care, ankle arthroscopy, complex reconstruction, tendon and ligament repair, Charcot reconstruction, and advanced wound care.

Dr. Tavakoli's clinical interests include foot and ankle sports medicine, plantar fasciitis and tendonitis, fracture care, bunion correction, foot and ankle arthritis, flatfoot reconstruction, Achilles tendon ruptures, Haglund's deformity, and diabetic foot wounds. He is committed to staying current with advances in foot and ankle care and has published peer-reviewed research on ankle fracture surgery and complex revision procedures in leading foot and ankle journals.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Tavakoli enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, playing the piano and guitar, cooking, and exploring the Richmond area.

Dr. Phoram Vyas, DPM

Board Qualified in Foot Surgery

Dr. Phoram Vyas is a board-qualified surgeon who specializes in forefoot, rearfoot, and ankle surgery. Her areas of expertise include diabetic limb salvage, sports medicine, and trauma. She takes a patient-centered approach, tailoring each visit and treatment plan to the patient's individual needs and goals while emphasizing clear communication.

Originally from Dallas, Dr. Vyas earned dual bachelor's degrees in biology and business administration from The University of Texas at Dallas. She then attended Midwestern University's Arizona College of Podiatric Medicine, where she earned her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree with academic honors and was inducted into the Pi Delta National Podiatric Honor Society.

Dr. Vyas completed her podiatric medicine and surgery residency at Hunt Regional Medical Center in Texas. Her training provided extensive clinical and operative experience in foot and ankle trauma, reconstructive surgery, diabetic limb salvage, and minimally invasive surgical techniques.

Committed to service, Dr. Vyas participated in two medical mission trips to San Miguel de Allende during her residency. She remains actively involved in professional organizations, and her scholarly work includes peer-reviewed publications and presentations at medical conferences.

Outside of work, Dr. Vyas enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and cat. Her interests include hiking, reading, and watching movies. Dr. Vyas is fluent in Hindi and Gujarati.
